The new central offices of Süddeutscher Verlag in Munich consist of a transparent high-rise block with 27 storeys of offices for 1,850 employees and an atrium several floors high. The overall impression is of a narrow, slimline building looking towards the city. The frontage is intended to express the many-layered nature of publishing work. Movement and tension over the surface of the skin give the impression that the 100m-high building is constantly changing in appearance. This energy-efficient new construction is one of the first high-rise buildings to aspire to a LEED gold certificate under the US Green Building Council criteria. Inside the building, partition wall system 2000 provides for large expanses of glass and guarantees a high level of sound insulation. It combines transparency with discretion thanks to the integrated blinds which can be lowered as needed. |
