The offices of Der Spiegel magazine on Pariser Platz in Germany’s capital offer a unique view of the Brandenburg Gate. The building’s exposed position was taken into account by the architects in planning the interior.
The ceiling-high glass System 2300 partition walls link the rooms together in a way which is atmospheric, functional and conducive to communication. The use of coloured film in the glass elements provides extra accents – for example, the pixelised Der Spiegel logo is superimposed over the visual axis to the quadriga topping the Brandenburg Gate. The overall colour concept imitates that of the Spiegel building in Hamburg. The 1970s colour scheme used there, which was created by Verner Panton, is deliberately cited and interpreted and overlaid with the current red hue of the Spiegel logo.
